The Minab Girls’ School Massacre, War Crimes against Iran, and the U.S. Role

On February 28, the day the US and Israel launched their attack on Iran, a double-tap strike targeted the Shajareh Tayyebeh School, a girls’ primary school in Minab. This attack reportedly killed about 165 people. International acknowledgment of war crimes against Iran intensified following this event. Although the USA has not officially acknowledged the attack, satellite images and missile debris are cited as evidence implicating the USA. Additionally, a group of Democratic US senators and several members of the UK Parliament have condemned the attack.

War Crimes against Iran: Killed School Girls for No Reason

Since February 28, US and Israeli airstrikes have reportedly killed nearly 300 Iranian and Lebanese children as attackers target apartment towers, single-family homes, schools, medical facilities, and other civilian infrastructure. According to Iran’s Health Ministry, these attacks have killed 198 women and 190 minors, including six children under 5, with the youngest reported victim an 8-month-old girl. Children account for more than 30% of those killed, and 1,044 women and 638 children have been injured since the outbreak of attacks.

The US-Israeli attacks include a massacre at a Minab girls’ school, which occurred after hostilities began on February 28. On March 7, 2026, around 175 people were killed during a demonstration in Tehran. According to UNICEF, since the war began, over 1,100 children have been killed or wounded in the Middle East. Iran reports that the airstrikes have killed more than 1,300 people nationwide, impacting 30 of 31 provinces since late February.

10 Classrooms Full of Children: Israel and the USA Attacks on Iran

On March 11, the US-based charity Save the Children noted that the number of slain Iranian and Lebanese minors since February 28 equals “10 classrooms full of children.” Around 175 Iranians, most of them young children, were killed in a double-tap strike on an elementary school in Minab. Israeli attacks on Iran during last year’s 12-Day War also killed more than 1,000 Iranians, including 436 civilians.

“It is devastating that airstrikes in Lebanon have reportedly caused the deaths of 83 children… among nearly 300 children killed in the region,” said Save the Children Lebanon director Nora Ingdal. “These are not just numbers. These are young lives cut short. War has scarred the future of these children forever. Israel claims it has killed around 200 Hezbollah fighters. However, the IDF’s routine attacks on apartment towers and other residential buildings have drawn widespread condemnation.

Attacks on Schools by the USA: Satellite Images and Missile Debris Prove

On March 4, satellite images revealed the aftermath of the February 28 school strike, showing the destroyed school and four adjacent buildings within the IRGC complex. NR Jenzen-Jones, director of Armament Research Services, stated, “Given the belligerents, that indicates it is a US strike, as Israel does not possess Tomahawk missiles.” This consultancy provides munitions analysis to governments and NGOs. The US is the only party in the Iran war using this weapon.

On March 10, Iranian state media published photographs they claimed were missile debris from the February 28 school bombing. Some labeling was still visible on the fragments, including the logo of Ohio-based engine manufacturer Globe Motors and weapons manufacturer Ball Aerospace and Technologies. The words “Made in the USA” were reportedly legible.

Condemning War Crimes Against Iran in the US

On March 11, a group of Democratic US senators, led by Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, condemned the school strike. They released a statement saying they were “horrified” by the February 28 attack, particularly as it killed school children. They also cited statements by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on US use-of-force rules.
UK Parliament members condemned the killings. Jeremy Corbyn called for equal value of all lives, while Zahra Sultana criticized the stated motives for the strike on the Minab school.

School Massacre in Iran: A War Crime, Not War Reality

On February 28, a double-tap strike hit Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, killing 165, many of whom were children. A British minister refused to call it a war crime, while US investigators believe the US military was probably responsible. Recent footage indicates a US Tomahawk missile was involved.
>On February 28, a bombing of a primary school in Minab killed scores of people, most of them girls aged seven to twelve.

This was the deadliest mass killing in the US and Israel’s war on Iran thus far. UNESCO has described the incident as a “grave violation” of international law. Evidence has mounted over the weeks since the attack, indicating US responsibility for the strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School.

The UK and War Crimes Against Iran

In recent days, multiple US B-1 Lancer bombers have reportedly departed from Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford base in Gloucestershire, England, to conduct strikes on Iran. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has not supported calls from opposition politicians for RAF participation in strikes on Iran, nor has he formally condemned the US-Israeli attacks. The ongoing US-Israel conflict in Iran is described as a significant escalation in an already unstable region, and some argue Britain should refrain from involvement. The conflict has reportedly led to substantial casualties in Iran and increased regional instability, as well as economic disruptions globally.

Current US-UK relations are described as complex, partly due to Britain’s initial refusal to allow the US to use the joint UK-US base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean for strikes on Iran. Reports indicate that Starmer spoke with US President Donald Trump on Sunday to discuss developments in the Middle East. The conversation also addressed military cooperation between the UK and US, including the use of RAF bases for shared defense efforts, according to Downing Street. President Trump has expressed criticism of Starmer, suggesting he is “unhelpful” and “no Winston Churchill”, and has accused the prime minister of seeking involvement in conflicts after military victories have been secured.

Petition for War Crimes in Israel-US attack on Iranian Elementary School

On March 12, prominent former presidents, Nobel laureates, and legal experts filed an urgent petition alleging war crimes in the Israel-US attack on the Iranian elementary school. Their detailed 5,000-word petition described how multiple missiles struck the school on the morning of February 28, collapsing the roof on children aged 7 to 12 who were in class. The petition noted that many countries recognize universal jurisdiction over war crimes, allowing national courts to launch independent investigations.
>The petition urges ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan to immediately investigate war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression related to the school attack.
